Thirukural- Chapter 15- Not seeing other man's wife

பிறன்பொருளாள் பெட்டொழுகும் பேதைமை ஞாலத்து
அறம்பொருள் கண்டார்கண் இல்.

The ignorance of seeing other man's wife
cannot be seen with people who understand virtue

அறன்கடை நின்றாருள் எல்லாம் பிறன்கடை
நின்றாரின் பேதையார் இல்.

Of all the virtue less people
The worst kind is
Those who see other man's wife

விளிந்தாரின் வேறல்லர் மன்ற தெளிந்தாரில்
தீமை புரிந்து ஒழுகு வார்.

When someone trusts you and you sleep with his wife
you are equal to the dead

எனைத்துணையர் ஆயினும் என்னாம் தினைத்துணையும்
தேரான் பிறனில் புகல்.

Without least thought one who sleeps with other man's wife
what is the use of whatever glory he has

எளிதென இல்லிறப்பான் எய்துமெஞ் ஞான்றும்
விளியாது நிற்கும் பழி.

When you sleep with other man's wife
thinking it is easy
You will attain endless shame

பகைபாவம் அச்சம் பழியென நான்கும்
இகவாவாம் இல்லிறப்பான் கண்.

Enmity, Sin, fear and blame
these four will never quit a person who sleeps with other man's wife

அறனியலான் இல்வாழ்வான் என்பான் பிறனியலாள்
பெண்மை நயவா தவன்.

The householder with virtue
will not like the femininity of other man's wife

 பிறன்மனை நோக்காத பேராண்மை சான்றோர்க்கு
அறனொன்றோ ஆன்ற வொழுக்கு.

 Not seeing other man's wife
is a virtuous quality of those who lead by example

நலக்குரியார் யாரெனின் நாமநீர் வைப்பின்
பிறர்க்குரியாள் தோள்தோயா தார்.

In this world who qualifies to get all goodness
are the ones
who do not touch other man's wife

அறன்வரையான் அல்ல செயினும் பிறன்வரையாள்
பெண்மை நயவாமை நன்று.

Even if you do not live by virtue
it is better you don't see other man's wife
